Frostbite by MLTR

hmm.. since i'm supposed to be slacking~~ *grinz* not much to do other than reconciling the whole mth's permits for customs.. lemme crap abt my 6 mths sales asst stint way back in.. 1999...

got recruited by Sportslink after we (bird & me) went for an interview at the JP Sportslink right after our O levels.. we're posted to different areas but they're jus a dept in those time still existing Oriental dept store.. me at tiong bahru n bird at bukit merah.. went for a one day course conducted by Oriental ppl.. tokking abt sales ettiquette n crap.. forgot all but only noe its quite useless..

anyways i was interning under 2 guys who were out on smoking breaks most of the time n came back smelling of cigerettes.. bird dat time.. hmm.. i forgot already.. think she was under someone who was quitting soon.. well.. life at oriental starts at 9 am.. (if i rem correctly..) n ends at ard 10+pm.. we have shift work.. so the morning shift starts ard 9-6.. the afternoon shift starts at 1-10 something like dat.. i totally forgot.. then there's only 2 ppl for one dept.. which means.. if its one guy's off day.. its a full shift for the other person..

learnt quite a lot of things from the 2 guys whom i forgot their name, sometimes from customers oso.. it was ard xmas time when i was at TB.. so its darn packed sometimes.. all we had to do was to help customers wit their needs n issue receipts if they wanna buy.. sometimes customers can jus take the receipt n stuff.. walk elsewhere n dump it there after considering not to buy.. so its irritating at times to have calculated the sales for a period then find an abandoned product lying somewhere.. oh yeah we gotta get back the cashier's receipt as proof of payment n we gotta staple on the carbon copy of the receipt we issued.. sold a record of 7.. or was it 9 pairs of shoes in a day at TB during xmas eve i think.. a few pairs were those sch shoes so i din really take note.. sales dat day was damn high!~ think it went ard 3k-4k.. cust were jus flocking in n out n even the 2 guys took shorter breaks when they see me.. the newbie struggling wit the amt of ppl..

was at TB for like 2 mths b4 i got transferred to Bukit Merah to work wit bird as she's alone there~~ mwehehehhe.. the aunties were great there.. althou talkative lah.. then as usual.. the supervisors r the grouchy kind.. n we super hate the mgmt guy of oriental.. ahhahha.. sucky~ rem there was once we got fed up wit not being able to find the things we were looking for.. we REARRANGED THE STOCK.. its like.. a lot.. behind the display shelves, in the storeroom, under the condolas.. n made a list of the shoes dat were available for ez reference.. took us a few days to do it.. n the new stocks jus keep arriving.. made the place darn dusty.. n the storeroom which is already very cramped.. imagine 2 of us inside is.. argh.. other than fooling ard wit the new stocks, arranging, tying up the store stock, tagging the new stock.. we oso sometimes venture over to the toys dept n play wit the toys there when its not peak hr.. if not we'll be listening to the aunties gossiping.. sometimes when i'm working the morning shift.. i'll stay late if there's a lot of new stock n help bird out noeing dat she cant cope~ all w/o OT pay.. its done wit passion for the job.. i dun care abt OT at dat age..

being newbies, we din noe abt any rules n such.. so.. we decided to redraw the price posters, which got the oriental mgmt guy hopping mad bcos he wants standardization.. n threw a temper at the supervisor who treats us very good.. feeling guilty man.. budden... no one told us mah... well.. case's jus resolved wit a scolding.. n rewriting of the posters.. blahh..

oh yeah.. jus rem a serious case... there was once a temp from somewhere who came over to intern wit me when bird was off.. as i was doing morning shift.. i knocked off b4 she does.. then dat nite nearing my bedtime.. i got a call from.. THE POLICE!! they say the ger's involved in a shop theft case.. needs my assistance.. freaked me half to death man.. the police said they'll be coming over in a while so i was like... waiting nervously.. wondering wat its gotta do wit me.. when they arrived, they told me the whole story.. stating dat the SO of Oriental discovered her leaving the shop wit a new shoes on her feet n her normal shoes in her bag.. then they asked me if i noticed anything suspicious in her bag anot.. i was like... huh i dunno leh.. then blah blah blah.. i dunno wat happened after dat.. think it was jus a misunderstanding as our area manager (jasmen)oso nvr briefed us anything.. budden i nvr see her after dat incident..

few mths after dat.. i got posted to holland v.. by dat time i was already considered a veteran.. mweheheheh.. n holland v only had one person there who was leaving soon.. HV's a smaller area than BM.. its jus the end corner of the store.. n the place where we keep the stock behind the display cabinets, we could look out at holland rd n see cars driving past.. ahahha.. mostly ang mo or foreign customers at HV whereas its more of aunties n kids who came to buy swimwear n accessories at BM.. the HV Oriental's also much smaller.. = less things to play.. rem times when we gotta hang those price banners from the ceiling, we gotta climb up n down n push the dusty ceiling board to get the *daogeh* over.. theres' a malay butch SO working there who rides a bike to work.. n always using the mirror to see if there's any moustache growth.. ahhahha.. the aunties there took great care of me n often ask me if i went makan liao anot.. ahhaha.. everyone's scared dat i'll die of hunger.. sometimes when they're bored.. they'll come over n gossip.. n when the manager passes by.. geh siao fold clothes.. wahhahha

some reg customers dat we've noticed.. actually i only rem one.. tis guy's from special ops.. n he always wear the special ops singlet.. comes practically everyday.. n jus looks ard until one day he finally bought some kettler equipments... then there was one time when i was alone at BM.. there's tis guy who came over n say wanna make fren wit me.. dat time.. being only 16! i freaked out man.. n said no.. ran away.. mwahahhaha.. then found the company of one of the aunties.. kekekkeke.. anyway the guy went over to another section n kept looking in my dept's direction.. i was thinking.. OMG.. some pervert.. wahhahha..

all in all.. working in the svc line is fun.. but tiring.. gotta tolerate the long hrs of standing.. learnt a lot of things there.. esp abt shoes.. rem there was once jasmen came over n i was serving a customer.. he actually helped me out n taught me abt how to understand customer's needs.. i oso learnt abt the main difference btwn shoes n their purpose.. the way it protects ur feet, the goggles difference..etc etc.. get to meet a lot of weird ppl.. but mainly.. how to crap i guess.. ahhahhaa.. n jasmen was actually the one who influenced me to take up marketing in poly.. wanted to go JC initially.. but ended up in poly after a word from mum.. n stared at the list of courses during the enrolment time thinking of wat course take.. then finally.. HECK LAH.. jus whack marketing on the 1st choice.. the rest.. anyhow write.. wanted to take design at temasek but its darn bloody far.. n since emily bird n grace were at SP.. i die die oso wana go SP lo.. so my choices were like.. 11 SP courses n 1 at NP.. still rem marketing was 1st choice.. then wit an multimedia course at NP.. then its IT at SP.. n the rest whack all over.. hahhhahah..

kkz enuff crap.. approaching lunch time.. yawnz..
